On one hand, there is you, a unique indi- vidual with specific interests, abilities, talents, and values. On the other hand are the hundreds of careers from which you can choose. In order to find a career that’s a good match for you, you need to first take a look at who you are. You need to think about what you’re good at, what activities you enjoy, and what’s important to you. Self-assessment is the first step in choosing a career. You wouldn’t go on a trip without knowing where you were going, or without a map telling you how to get there. If you did, who knows where you would end up. It’s the same with life.To prepare for your future, you need to know where you‘re going and how you’re going to get there.
