23 Middle school is a good time for you to start thinking about what kind of career you might like to have. Before you can begin to choose a career, there are a number of things you need to consider. You need to think about: u what you’re good at (abilities) u what you like to do (interests) u what you have a natural talent for (aptitudes) u what’s important to you (values) To learn about different careers, ask several adults to tell you about their career. Ask them what they like about their career, what they don’t like, and how they prepared for it. Also, ask if they have any advice for someone who’s considering a similar career. Don’t worry about finding the perfect career right now. Just try to identify one or two career areas thatmightbeagoodmatchforyou,andtakesome time to learn about the careers in those areas.
