Being organized will make your child a much better student!  Help your child learn how to organize and prioritize homework. Have your child explain what needs to be done, and then help your child develop a plan.  Encourage your child to regularly use a student planner. Check it periodically to make sure that your child is using it correctly.  Provide your child with a folder for each subject. Remind your child to put all handouts, assignments, and returned tests in the appropriate folders.  Have your child clean out his/her backpack at least once a week. Keep the papers you want to display or save, and throw the rest away.  Large assignments can seem overwhelming, and students sometimes need help figuring out where to begin. Show your child how to break large assignments and projects down into smaller, more manageable tasks.  Each night, have your child put everything that’s needed for the next day in his/her backpack.
